Speaking of events to look forward to-we were, just this morning-Edible Manhattan just got word that as part of their yearly summer fest of food flicks the NYC Food Film Festival is planning The World’s First Food Truck Drive-In Movie, and the biggest collection of food trucks assembled in one place in the city.
Fest founders—the cinematic shindig runs from June 23 to 27 in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens–say they’re pulling together a master roster of our current four-wheeled faves and a few trucks that will be making their mobile debut in NYC on that lovely Saturday. (We know, we want deets on eats too, but that’s all they’d tell us. We have our fingers crossed for LA’s Kogi BBQ truck, BTW.) They’ll also be gathering grub from more food-makers and cart operators, and founders hope to have at least 50 vendors on hand.
The Drive-In (the motto is “where the food trucks drive in and the crowd arrives on foot”) is slated for Saturday June 26th from noon to 10 pm. The riverside flicks—yep, there’ll be films too—start at sundown.
Entry to the event is free, but you have to reserve a ticket online-those who go to food fests should appreciate the fest’s attempts at culinary crowd control–which you can do starting at noon on Friday from the NYC Food Film Festival’s site right here. [Important Update: As of April 22nd, tickets to the Drive-In were sold out, but fest founders say you should sign up on the e-waitlist and they’ll update you if more spots open up. Fingers crossed they do!]
